My visit with Panther Bior
Adventure to Merang part 1.
When I went on a trip with Panther Bior it was a great journey and it all started out on a cold misty morning at 5:00 when Panther and I stepped onto the plane. We planned a trip to Panthers new school site in Merang, Sudan for one day then to take a small plane to Panthers home village in Bor, Sudan for two days too visit family and attend a Wedding of one of Panthers close friend. The day I arrived in Merang it was magical there where different shades of green covering every inch of the area and we could just smell the smokey and crisp air. I could see elephants and giraffes grazing in the nearby fields. The first day once we where setled in we walked over to inspecte the area and locate were the building was going to be built and the architecture it would have. It was a great success and my dream of what the school would look like seemed already marvelous, so we went out to celebrate at a small restaurant in the middle of the village and had bean soup with pita bread and chili. Panther and I spent the whole dinner telling stories and my favourite was when Panther told me about a old myth that he believed in explaining abouth the war and how they believed that God would only hurt them once and give them happiness for life if you can over come that hurt. It was a great night we had so much fun and after the delicious meal and the great stories we plonked down on our pillows and slept!
Adventure to Bor part 2.
After a great day of acomplishments and great food Panther and I hopped on another plane and flew to Bor his home village and trust me if you saw Bor you would be amazed! Panther showed me all over from the dangerous jungle to the streets and villages of Bor we bought great souveniers at the gift shop and I met his whole family and they showed me around the whole village and explained to me the coulture and how its different to America! I thought the whole area was amazing and I couldn't take my eyes of it the lush greenery and large waterfalls but I really did not realize anything until the next day when Panther and I walked two miles to a small waterfall a little outside of his village where I experienced a real traditional Wedding! There was dancing, Singing from a famouse singer in Sudan called LAM Tunware and we had lots of food from: nut cake to rice and links it was a great Wedding to experience and I had a blast! We did all the wedding traditions my favourite was when she threw her vail into the croud of people and Panther caught it. Panther and I also loved dancing and him trying to teach me his favourite dance which I was not great at! Panther and I got back at about 9:00 pm and went straight to sleep because we had a long plain ride back! Before We borded the plane Panther and I woke up early and walked to the Nile river for a morning swim. It was freezing but Panther was okay I came out shivering and Panther carried me home! I couldent sleep that night Panther went back to Pittsburg I tossed and turned but still couldent seem to relax I missed Panther so much. I made a promise that night I promised myself I would never forget that trip and it would be a memorie for ever.

On our first adventure we went to visit Panthers school and also went to the nearby village to look at different shoppes and bought small nicknacks to remember our trip.

A beautiful picture during sun set in Bor,Sudan!

Gretchen, I love how you talked about how god only hurts you once and if you overcome that than you will be happy for the rest of your life.
I like it how you had a caption next to each or almost each picture.

Gretchen, Yin ca leec (Thank You! in dinka) for such an incredible journey. You did so much to fuel your imagination. Then you took such time and care to share it in words, pictures, video, sound and links. Panther would be touched by such a care-filled and sincere and respectful visit. Thank you so much for taking me—taking us—along with you. The world needs travelers like you.
